This video shows how villagers in mine communities in North-Western province make environmentally friendly charcoal out of waste maize cobs, then sell it for profit. This reduces deforestation in the area, while helping communities to generate additional income.

  1. Hello, My name is Womba Chikweti and I work with an SME that makes clean cooking stoves called AFNON. I want to find out more about this group / the lady discussing the green charcoal and for us to have a possible partnership of training our women we supply stoves to in making this green charcoal.

    Please email us

    • Hello Womba, thanks for reaching out. This video was filmed in late 2016, so we will need to find out whether this kind of training is still available in NW Province. We will be in touch by email.
